Water wettable mixed-mode SPE – polymeric sorbent bearing a sulphuric acid as a strong cation exchanger attached to the phenyl group of the divinyl benzene-based polymer sorbent. Independent from the pH of the SPE solvent, the SCX sorbent will always be negatively charged.

Mixed mode SPE to extract (weak) bases. Elution from the SCX sorbent with ammonium hydroxide in methanol. Ammonium ions as a strong base will be able to replace the weak bases from the mixed mode SCX sorbent.
